Ograda e pustie iar
Pustie-i casa parinteasca
Bunelul cu ochii tristi si inlacrimati
Ne-asteapta la fereastra...
Hello there.
It's been a while since I didn't wrote a blog, but being a mom and a full-time student was quite challenging. Last year I graduated from college and this Summer I got my first internship in U.S. at a TV station, I was super busy but enjoyed my journey which I hope to find time and write about it later on.
So after three years of successful accomplishments in the States it was time to spend some quality time with my family in my native country Moldova.
I began this blog with a slogan from a song that those who live in Moldova know about it. This slogan depicts perfectly the life in Moldova, namely the life of the elders. Some people from Europe know about Moldova, others have not even heard about it. A beautiful country rich in values and traditions, with a strong education system but with a high level of corruption. And that is why I began this blog with the slogan describing the elders waiting at the window for their children to come home, because the young generation is heading to new horizons where through persistence dreams come true, which is the main reason I left my country as well.
However, I'm proud to be from Moldova, I'm proud to share my traditions here in the States and I have to say that I had a wonderful childhood without the technology of nowadays. Those who have grown up in Moldova know what I'm talking about. Our happiness consisted in playing with our friends all day, without having a phone, a tablet or playstation.
For my visit in Moldova I had only 12 days but I managed my time to take some pictures in my grandparents' courtyard at the "new house" as our grandparents called it. In the courtyard where I spent my childhood with my sister and where every morning, in my early years, I was knocking on my grandfather's window to greet him before going to school, the same window that is in the image above. So many feelings in a single picture! He is my only grandparent still alive and my soul breaks when looking at this picture for loneliness is read in his sad eyes.
The farewell was tough... he knew I was going far away, in another corner of the world... but I promised to come back soon... and with my eyes full of tears I left, hoping that next time I'll come back I'll find him at the same window waiting for me...
Never forget where you came from and be proud of your roots!
